Yahoo recently updated their Profiles page. If you own a yahoo email account, then it just needs to verify your birth date, interests and other information to setup an account and then prompt you to request your friends who you frequently mail to setup an account too.
Social networking has changed the way we used to network few years ago. With Facebook like update features, Yahoo probably wants to kick start another social networking on the cloud which actually they should have done long time back.
And as Yahoo is there since a long time, most of us have active accounts on their network. Hence, it can fairly do well if they market their stuff better. But with awesomely done features of Facebook, it’s hard to imagine anything for us that is worth than it.
Microsoft also could have taken lead in the social networking race due to the popularity of hotmail, but who knows they may offer something better in future.
