There are plenty of nasty people on the internet, sometimes we do make mistakes and get trapped by hackers. Phishing is also sometimes misunderstood for hacking which is not so. We’ll soon update our readers about phishing and hacking attacks and how to prevent them.
If you look on internet there are lot of questions raised in communities like "My yahoo account got stolen, how to recover it" or "someone is spying me on yahoo messenger, how to prevent it" etc.
There can be several possibilities why your yahoo messenger account got hacked. Either you keep your password too common to be noticed by someone or someone might have installed keylogger on your computer. Keyloggers are software trojans which will record whatever keys you type and send it to the hacker sitting in some other part of the world.
Follow these steps if you are unable to login on yahoo messenger. Open Yahoo Mail and see if you can login to your mail account.
- If you are not able to login, then someone might have changed your password or you might have forgotten your password.
- Reset your password by going to Yahoo’s Forgot Password Wizard. They will send you the new password on your alternate email ID if you specified or will ask you to answer secret questions.
- If you’ve even forgotten your secret question and alternate email etc then it’ll be bit difficult to retrieve your password as per Yahoo policy if you cannot verify your Secret Question, you will be unable to receive a password if you:
- Have not provided an alternate email address associated with your account
- No longer have access to the alternate email address associated with your account
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- You should change your password every now and then. Secret question can be changed once in 2 months for better security.
- Never open any link in your email asking you to verify your account or directly asking you to send passwords.
- While typing your password to access Yahoo or any other email service do check the website address on the address bar. You may by mistaken for www.yaahoo.com etc.
- Have updated Antivirus definitions installed and make sure that your Windows is secure not to allow any viruses and trojans on your PC.
IF NOTHING IS WORKING then you can request Yahoo guys to consider your case. They may help you if you give some solid proof of your usage of yahoo account.
