How to Fix Sidebar Gadgets problem in Windows 7 with disabled UAC

If you have installed Windows 7 beta then you must be aware of the bug that whenever UAC is switched off, Sidebar and Gadgets in Vista fails to display properly on Windows 7 Desktop. Though this is not for every machine but many users have reported this problem that their Sidebar and Gadgets are not working properly.

Windows 7 For older beta versions of Windows 7 there had been some temporary workarounds for the same problem. But if you are using Win7 Build 7000.0.081212 then this can be fixed using a simple registry hack which like in Vista will Elevate your Sidebar and Gadgets Process.

If you know how to play with you registry Editor then just open regedit.exe from Run command in Windows 7 and go to KEY 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
\CurrentVersion\Sidebar\Settings

From there edit the DWORD value of AllowElevatedProcess and set it to 1. You don’t need to restart your Windows 7 computer after this. If your sidebar and Gadgets were not working properly earlier then they will be fixed instantly.

For those of you who have no idea what is regedit and Registry Editor in Windows Just download win7-sidebar-fix.zip file and run the .reg file in it inside and when prompted, click Yes to allow.

Earlier if you remember, Microsoft officially released a patch to fix the mp3 sound problems in Windows 7. It seems like Windows 7 needs to fix some critical issues before releasing it fully. On the other hand everybody is impressed by it even during beta stage.

    i downloaded some gadgets … but when i installed the whole gadget stopped working … and even though i did what you recommended the problem still exists … here is the problem signature that i copied from the error msg … could you please send a solution in my mail …

    hy man :) I did this, and the eror continue to persist…
    for example, the gadgets that use internet, are empty, and other ones, don’t appear – the volume gadget is stucked to 100%… i really don’t know what to do, because reinstalling windows all the time is not so easy, because I use a lot of programs, and I can’t just reinstall them all the time… do you have any idea for this? how to resolve it :D
