Why user experience is an important part of your Blog ?

If you ask me what has changed the most on internet in the past few years, UX (user experience) will definitely top the list. A blog is all about how the user will experience what you want him/her to do.

Even when choosing a domain name, you’d surely prefer xyz.com rather than something like hellowhatisthis.com even though the latter makes some sense. For you the readership is important, but for your readers their TIME is much more important.

For instance, let say you want to list top 50 links of something on your post. What ? Do you really think that your readers have enough time to view even 40% of those links ? Rather I’d have surely preferred listing 5-10 of the best links out of them giving a line of description about each of them so that the readers can at least see something that they are interested in.

Your readers do have lot of other stuff like you have. They just want a little dose everyday to keep them going. Whatever you write think first in terms of end readers and then see if it’s original and niche.

Taking another example which is my favorite, have a look at the following excerpt from Wikipedia about iPhone 3G -

The Apple iPhone is an internet connected multimedia smartphone with a flush multi-touch screen and a minimal hardware interface. Lacking a physical keyboard, a virtual keyboard is rendered on the touch screen. The iPhone’s functions include those of a camera phone and portable media player (equivalent to the iPod) in addition to text messaging and visual voicemail. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. The first generation phone hardware was quad-band GSM with EDGE; the second generation also adds UMTS with HSDPA.^[31]

At first just have a look at both of two without trying to understand what is written. Whatever information you can get from the first box, you can get the same information from the second. Now does it make any difference ?

Most of the readers do know about iPhone, but not all of them are aware of the features or the connectivity options in it. So those who are interested in its connectivity options will not have to look for its features. Even if this save a second of your readers’ time then for 60 of your posts you can save their minute.

Bottom line is that everything is “TIME”. Your readers’ time is precious. A Blog is just to utilize the readers’ time giving them maximum information pleasure.
