Next Generation Firefox Prototype

Firefox 3.1 is not very far away from release now, I suppose. As we discussed features of Firefox 3.1 before, the TRACEMONKEY JavaScript engine would certainly be something to look for in it.

But wait! If you are aware of Mozilla’s Ubiquity project which they announced last year in August, then you must be knowing that it is an effort from Mozilla Labs to empower users to control the browser with language based instructions.

Ubiquity is still in experimental stage. You can download it and play with the new features that we may see in Firefox soon. And to your surprise, it has been downloaded over million times. You can also use this tutorial to get started with Ubiquity.

But to really get a feel of what Ubiquity is, Aza Raskin has created an excellent prototype in JavaScript and html to showcase the power of Ubiquity. The whole setup is called Taskfox.

Watch this video and see the next generation of Firefox prototype with Taskfox. This is just brilliant!
