How to turn off Indexing to speed up Windows

Do you know that Windows XP continuously keep indexing your files so that when you search, you get the results much faster. But while doing this, it may hog up some resource and slow down Windows performance.

If you search a lot on your Windows machine then it is wise to let it be like that, but if you not then I’ll recommend you to stop the indexing service.

Follow the simple steps –

  • Open My Computer.
  • Right click on C: drive icon and select Properties.
  • At the bottom of the window you’ll notice one option asking you
to Allow indexing service for faster searching. Uncheck that option
    and Apply settings.

  • A new Window tab will appear. Select the option Apply to all folders and subfolders.

You are done! It’ll take few minutes and you’ll experience much faster performance of your Windows machine. I’ll also recommend you to clean all spywares, trojans and malware and clean up your Windows temporary files for much better performance.
