There are several reasons why I like to work with Google Docs than any other software office suites. One thing I like very much about Google docs is their Revision History option.
I made few changes today then all of a sudden realize that I’ve spoiled my previous work. Revision history option saved quite lot of my time reverting back to my previous data.
How to use Revision History –
To Revert back to the previous revision
1. Keep working on your document, until you feel like you’ve done anything wrong and in a need of reverting back the changes you’ve just made. From the Google Docs File Menu select Revision History option.
2. This will take you to a page showing all revisions that has been made so far for that particular document
Just click on the Revisions and see which one do you want to revert back to. Click on the “Revert to this one” button at the top and your document will be reverted back not showing you the unwanted changes.
To Compare two documents –
1. Follow the first step given above and select the Revision you want to compare and press the “Compare Selected” button at the top.
2. This will show you one document with deleted text in strikeout font and the new text highlighted.
This revision and compare feature will be very useful for those who work in collaboration as Google does support editing of document by multiple authors.
