Germany has the maximum Mobile Phone Bandwidth

Downloading at 28Mbps on mobile phone is like a dream come true for Telefónica O2 Germany users. In a Press Release, mobile carrier Telefónica O2 announced that it’ll offer this high downloading speed technology in second half of 2009.

The mobile data network for the carrier will be based on HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access). Australia was the first country to put HSPA on commercial use in December, 2008 but that was 21Mbps downlink speed. With Telefónica O2 announcing 28Mbps downlink speed this will be the highest so far.

HSPA Phone Other than Germany, Telecom Italia is also launching its HSPA+ technology in Milano. There’s no news from AT&T about HSPA launch but there are speculations that it’ll be there soon.

Currently, almost all the carriers around the globe offers HSDPA (3G protocol) which belongs to HSPA family. Year 2007 saw launch of so many phones supporting HSDPA including Apple’s iPhone. Now almost all the high end phones that comes with data plan are equipped with 3G services.

HSPA+ which is also known as Evolved HSPA can offer data speeds of upto 42Mbps downlink and 22Mbps as uplink which is even more than the average broadband speed in some developing countries like India. The technology promises to improve battery life and quick wake from idle state on your mobile phone.

Just for your information, Nokia and Siemens Network are working on I-HSPA (Internet HSPA) based on HSPA too.
