7 tips to maximize the battery life of your Digital Camera

Digital CameraWhenever you are going out for a vacation to woods or a place where you can’t buy a battery or charge it, it’s always advisable to have another spare set of battery with you. Digital cameras tend to drain out battery very soon if not utilized properly, some cameras just last for 50-60 shots per charge.

Below are 7 helpful tips to save battery life of your camera while taking shots-

1. Always plan your shots before switching on the camera.
If you are in habit of turning it on and off after every shot, your battery consumption may go as high to 40% more than what you need.

2. Turn off the LCD while taking shots.
LCD if turned on is another reason for high power consumption from your battery. It’s always better to turn it off and use camera’s viewfinder.

3. Try to avoid Flash as much as possible
Flash consumes very high power, about more than double power which is required by a normal photograph. Though it’s not possible everytime to keep flash turned off when taking photos at night time but you can still try increasing the exposure and use tripod to capture stabilized pictures.

4. Don’t use zoom when taking shots
You should use the camera zoom very rarely. The motor which makes it zooms in and out consumes lot of battery power. Instead, increase the mega pixel value, though it’ll help you very little.

5. Avoid playback of pictures and videos you shot
This is quite unavoidable but still you can  try not to look at the photos you took earlier again and again. This will not only save your battery life but also give you a reason to view all the clicks that you took with so much interest.

6. Keep your camera warm while taking shots in cold climates
The battery drains out quickly if kept in cold climate outside the safe limits. Keep it in a warm bag or a cover.

7. Always carry an extra pack of battery
As mentioned above, this will not increase your battery life but will give you double shots of images that you can take while on your not-so-often vacation. You can get the batteries very cheap if you have standard point and shoot camera.
