Is it advisable to start another blog before one blog gets popular ?

Recently, I posted a question to Daniel Scocco, famous blogger from DailyBlogTips. My question was -

I’ve a blog where I write about software and internet tips along with a bit of Blogging/SEO. Is it good to have that in one blog or shall I create another website for SEO content and separate out software/internet tips ?

As expected, he gave a very appropriate solution clearing all the doubts which I had in my mind. According to him you should put all your energies to only one blog when you are starting your blogging career.

Once the blog gets popular to your satisfaction (which it will never) you can think of starting a new venture or another blog as you’ll be having tons of experience that made your first blog so successful.

I thought a lot after that. I am very much passionate about technology. Though for my question it doesn’t make much sense starting another blog at all. SEO and Blogging are also a part of technology. There are several successful blogs covering lots of other stuff along with technology so why shouldn’t I.

So when should you start another blog ?

As I have barely one and a half month of blogging experience I can’t answer this question. However I could give some insights as what I’ve heard from other bloggers as it depends on lot of other factors too.

If you have time you can start another niche blog and earn daily revenue writing only 50-60 posts in it. I’ve seen people talking about this. All you need for that is Search Engine Optimization and keyword selection which probably by then would be your bread and butter. But all this shouldn’t be at cost of your first blog.

The factors I just talked could be traffic on your site or may be Financial aspects, community, ranking etc as beautifully explained by Aseem Kishore here.

Goal setting is also another important part of blogging which shouldn’t be ignored at all. It’s the most easiest way to track your blogging progress. Find out if you really are passionate about blogging or you write just for the sake of money. According to Salwa Three basic keys for successful goal settings are

1. Have a vision
2. Set Achievable Goals and measure them yourself.
3. Work Hard and act on your goals.

So of course if your goals are not yet achieved for your first blog, you shouldn’t even think about starting another blog. If you are going on right track achieving all the goals then you should wait for sometime till you get stable to write for another blog.

Conclusion

Without any further thinking, start putting all your energies to one blog only. I don’t know how should I thank Daniel and Aseem for removing every atomic doubt that I had regarding this.

Now I’m really looking forward to improve as much as I can.
