One thing that I don’t understand is whether we should take Alexa traffic rank seriously or not. It’s been a great blogging journey for us in a short time but with such variations of Alexa we are clueless.
We reached 16 million to 1 million in no time. And without much of backlinks and commenting. I’ve seen some websites that have 5K – 6K Yahoo backlinks and most of them are either due to commenting or Top commentator viral effect. All of them have very decent Alexa. But we don’t believe in so much excessive commenting to increase Alexa. Or should we ?
We’ve almost tripled the traffic for this month in just few days. Some of our posts rank at 1st position in Google as well as Yahoo and many on the first page. Search engine traffic is also increasing on daily basis, though our SEO tweaking will take some time to get into effect.
Websitegrader shows our grade to be 92. It was 59 when we started few months back and 81 last month. It mostly depends on your Alexa and Technorati rankings as well as Inbound Links (Yahoo)
Whois.sc shows our SEO score to be 100% which is great as some of very popular sites also don’t have 100% score. And that is mainly because of our massive campaign to follow all the web standards and SEO optimizations. We had a score of 85% last month.
Also notice the Alexa Trend above. Actual Alexa is showing it to be more than 3 million. It was 1 million yesterday on Alexa.
Our content is also liked by social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit etc and we were able to generate large chunk of traffic from there too.
Revenue: We are not thinking about revenue at this point of time. Even though we have placed a single 160×600 adsense banner but we hardly look at our revenue stats or considering money making as our goal.
Subscribers: We’ve not yet launched any contest or ad campaign, which we’ll be doing soon. As of now, our subscribers are as per our expectations. What we’ve analyzed from our Feedburner stats is that those subscribers are genuinely interested in the content and not subscribing just to forget later.
And now the Alexa rank. There were moments when we reached 200K Alexa for 1 week Avg rank. It’s been fluctuating with so much variations. Even though once we had a traffic of more than 2K unique visitors a day, Alexa was showing us kind of incorrect results in some 3-4 millions, which I can’t believe at all.
Though whois.sc and some other websites to check Alexa were probably showing us the correct results.
Did you also face such problem ? Should we care about Alexa ?
