Now you have installed Windows 7 you may be concerned about privacy issues. If you share your laptop computer with someone you may want to hide and protect your personal files and folders from others. The procedure to hide files in Windows 7 is very easy like the previous versions of Windows.
Steps to make files hidden in Windows 7
- Choose a file which you want to hide by browsing through its folder and then selecting that particular file.
- Now right click on that file and from the context menu select “Properties”.
- Now on the new Window you’ll see one “Hidden Checkbox” which is unchecked. Check it and then click on OK button.
- If you are still seeing that file then you need to change your hidden file options as mentioned in next few steps.
- Open Explorer Window or Press Start button and then Click on “Computer” button.
- Now on top left Click on “Organize” and then “Folder and Search option”
- On the new Window, select the “View” Tab and go down a little and select the option “Don’t show hidden files, folders or drives”.
- Your files and folders will not be visible now. In order to see them repeat the steps 5 through 7 and uncheck the option mentioned in step 7.
