Download Windows 7 patch (KB961367) if you cannot hear mp3 music files

win7 logo If you have installed the beta of Windows 7 and unable to listen to mp3 music files then just don’t worry. Microsoft has released the patch (KB961367 )which will fix the mp3 file corruption that Windows 7 is having right now.

Windows 7 beta is having some serious trouble with music streams which is not allowing user to hear any sound from the mp3 music and the recorded live TV streams too using Media center.

Steps to be followed to install the Patch -

  • Backup all your mp3 music if possible. (or make them read-only)
  • Download the KB961367  patch from here.
  • Just run the downloaded file and follow the simple instructions.

Please note that if you are running Windows Media Player 12 on Vista then you should not face this problem and the patch cannot be applied on Vista.

Also, if you are still on Vista, do check the differences between Vista and Windows 7 before upgrading.
