Download new Skype for Mac and expect it soon for iPhone

Skype LogoToday, Skype team has announced Skype 2.8 for Mac.  This version is available as beta for all Mac users. New Skype comes with lot of great features which also includes Screen sharing where you can share whole of your desktop to other person and your computer will behave as an internal webcam. This feature will be very useful for those providing customer support as it is free compared to other paid softwares.

Skype 2.8 is platform independent. This means that if you are a Mac user, you can share your screen to a Windows user or a Linux user. Some other salient features include the new Add a contact button which is very easy to use and allows you to add your friend just by entering the name of the person.

Skype 2.8 comes with a new feature called Mood Messages . Basically, Mood messages are like status updates that one user is giving to all of his friends exactly the way Twitter and other micro blogging site does.

Also, using Skype Access now you can get Wi-Fi access to your MacBook using any of the Boingo hotspots. Boingo has more than 100K hotspots spread all over the world.

Apart from that, at MacWorld Truphone has also announced Skype for iPhone sometime in 3rd week of January 2009. Truphone makes applications for mobile phones that connect via internet, decreasing the cost of the call.

Though truphone already has apps for iPhone and iPod touch which allows you to connect to other Truphone users or Google talk user, but the Skype app for iPhone will extend some more possibilities of calling worldwide using cheap Skype out account.

You can download Skype 2.8 for Mac and wait for a week or two to see it as an iPhone app at iTunes Store.
