WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is a revolutionary software that enables Mac OS X, BSD, Solaris an various other distros of Linux Like Fedora, Suse etc to run Microsoft Windows application without needing to have it installed in your system. WINE team today has announced the latest release of the version 1.1.12 with so many bug fixes and improvements. Now WINE is capable of running so many Windows Games and software that had some or other problems earlier.
As reported by WINE blog by Alexandre Julliard who is the lead programmer of WINE, now it’ll be able to run 64 bit apps and also will support subpixel font rendering with 64 bit code generation in the IDL compiler too.
The new WINE 1.1.12 uses the new version of Gecko Engine which is also used by Firefox and various bug fixes which will now allow you to play so many Games like FIFA, Civilization etc and software like Google Sketchup, MSN messenger etc which were crashing earlier on it and that too without installing Windows on your Personal Computer.
Just for Knowledge : WINE development has completed more than 15 years with Alexandre Julliard’s team releasing version 1.0 on mid of 2008 and Codeweavers is the main company that supports WINE development.
