Debian which is a free and open source operating system is the core of many popular Linux distros like Ubuntu, KNOPPIX, Linspire, DreamLinux, Xandros, Dream Small Linux etc. Today finally the wait is over. Debian has released its latest version 5.0 codenamed Lenny.

- GNOME 2.22.2 as default Window Manager which supports Webkit too.

- Server version includes: mySQL 5.0.51a , PostgreSQL 8.3.6, Samba server 3.2.5, Horde 3.2
- KDE 3.5.10 is also present. Though we have no information about the release of Kubuntu which has only KDE as a desktop environment.
- Improved Debian installer which can apply security patches during the installation process itself.
- All types of CD/DVDs are supported. And Debian 5.0 Lenny also supports BluRay technology.
- Latest version of all softwares like KDE, OpenOffice, GIMP, Emacs, Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird etc
Debian 5.0 Lenny is available as a standalone as well as Live CD edition. You can simply download ISO DVDs to install.
