Today, Divx has announced the new version DivX7 which will allow you to create and play full High Definition HD H.264 videos. Like MPEG, WMV, AVI etc, H.264 is the new standard for high definition video resolution which not only has exceptional video quality but also is very much improved in terms of efficiency and performance.
HD H.264 videos usually comes in .mkv format. To play .mkv format there are very few tools that rip the format into known format that can be played on players like VLC, Windows Media player, Media Player classic etc. With DivX7 apart from playing .divx, .avi, .wmv etc videos you’ll be able to play .mkv files directly without a need for ripping the content first from HD DVD or a Blue Ray disc.
DivX is also equipped with DFX Audio enhancer that comes as a 30-day trial with both Free as well as paid Divx Pro for Windows. With Divx Pro version you can also convert High Definition video files to .divx,.avi etc formats. It also includes advanced encoder to encode DivX Plus HD profiles.
System requirements to play HD Videos are -
- Windows XP/Vista (32-bit)
- DirectX 9 +
- Pentium 4 2.4Ghz or equivalent to play HD
- Blue Ray Disc or HD DVD Rom (optional, you can download the content)
- Pentium D 3.0 Ghz or equivalent to play HD H.264
- 32MB of Video RAM for 800×600 resolution in 24bit color to play SD
- 64MB of Video RAM for 1280×720 resolution in 24bit color to play HD
- Stereo Sound Card with drivers for Direct Sound.
These are the minimum requirements. The more good configuration you have, better will be the experience.
