If you’ve a WordPress self hosted blog and frequently upload images in your posts then are you aware that WordPress by default creates thumbnails of those images even when you don’t need them ?
These thumbnails with default size of 150 x 150 gets uploaded in uploads directory and can take up huge server space in the long run without getting used.
To Disable thumbnails -
Go to your Wordpress Dashboard then Settings and select Miscellaneous from the top bar. You’ll see the default size of 150 x 150 for thumbnail and 300 x 300 for medium sized images.
Clear the values and uncheck the “Crop Thumbnail” checkbox and save changes as show below
This will also disable the thumbnails even if you use Windows Live Writer or any of your favorite XML RPC based software to blog.
