How to delete files that give Access Denied error in Windows
I am sure you also must have run into situation where you wanted to delete a file or folder in Windows but Windows gave you some error denying access to that file. This is very much common when deleting audio or video file in Windows.
The error which Windows gives could be -
- Cannot delete file: Access is denied
- There has been a sharing violation.
- The source or destination file may be in use or the file is in use by another program or user.
- Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
- Cannot delete Folder: It is being used by another person or program.
Basically, that specific file is locked by several other processes which don’t let you to delete it. In order to delete the file you first need to reboot your machine to release all the processes.
Unlocker is a free solution to this which all of us were looking for. It allows you to release all the processes associated with the file and without restarting your computer you can delete it.
After installing unlocker, just right click on that file and choose unlocker option as shown above. It’ll show you another window which will list all the processes associated with that file. Press Unlock all button and then delete the file permanently.
