Are you a developer or a web designer or in any profession that requires a computer ? No doubt, you must have edited some or other files in your profession which are important. Losing information just because of some silly mistake is the last thing that you’d ever want.
Though there are several tools available to compare files. BeyondCompare is one good application that I know (not free). CompareMyFiles is very easy to use online tool that will help you compare two text files without requiring you to install any software and absolutely FREE of cost.
CompareMyfiles takes two files as an input. These two files will be uploaded to the web server and it’ll highlight the part where there’s a difference in text. You can also choose to compare files line by line or Skip blank lines too.
Good thing about Comparemyfiles is that it doesn’t require any registration and very very easy to use. This will come very handy tool if you have a blog and you keep changing your template files every now and then.
I don’t know how many times I’ve messed up with my Wordpress files while editing, specially my style.css file where such a situation was created that I didn’t know what changes I’ve made with respect to the latest version of my files. (Comparing with backup file). CompareMyfiles can be useful in this situation comparing files having different text.
But one thing that I’d love to have is to directly compare two URLs without requiring to first paste the HTML code inside static files and then uploading them to their web server. Do you know of any such tool ?
