We never would like to write diplomatic answers. Canon and Nikon are known for their camera lenses for long. If money is not your concern then don’t think further and buy Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.
If 100$ is enough for you then go ahead with Canon Powershot SD1200IS and of course you can buy Nikon Coolpix L20 camera as your kids’ first digital camera.
