Asus as we all know is one popular hardware brand . With its famous EEE PC Netbooks there’s no question of the brand value that it has created. And who doesn’t know about Garmin, another famous brand known for its GPS model Nuvi.
Back in 2008, Asus and Garmin announced their Nuvifone and it was supposed to be out last year itself but its launch seems to be delayed. Asus and Garmin have finally announced that the product Nuvifone will be ready to be shipped soon.
Garmin was responsible for the launch of Nuvifone earlier but this time they have tied up with Asus for the hardware development. They have been working on it since long. If you don’t know Nuvifone is a GPS based phone with 3.5 inch touch screen, Bluetooth, Wi-fi, HSDPAand other portable phone features.
Probably iPhone 3G was the main reason that Nuvifone got delayed and now both the companies are trying to develop some out of the box feature that are not present in iPhone. There have been so many phones earlier which even got the status of "iPhone killer". Famous Nokia N97 and Blackberry Storm are two of those phones.

According to experts, competing with iPhone requires having solid base of innovation like multi-touch technology as well as Apple’s iTunes Store like marketplace. But you never know, with this GPS phone Garmin and Asus may come up with something useful for the community.
Now since the phone is announced, we are expecting them to launch the Nuvifone in first quarter of 2009 and we are not sure of the price tag of the device before its release. It’s hard to say anything about the carrier service that it will tie up with. Since AT&T is tied up with iPhone, this time it can be T-Mobile ?
We’ll keep you updated with the launch and price of Nuvifone in future. Just make sure that you subscribe to our feed on your favorite RSS reader or get updates on email.
