Though Google has made all the developers to wait for a long time, but finally it has announced Android Market with paid apps from developers.
Last year in October, Google announced their Android market in response to Apple’s iTunes app store which is a huge hit. At that time there was no support for paid apps and everything that a developer creates will go to Android marketplace free of cost.
Now it’s a great news for Android developers to start making money developing Android apps. If you want to be Android developer you need to pay one time application fee of 25$. Once you are registered successfully you can publish your app to be downloaded by Android users.
The developers will get 70% of the revenue for their apps, and rest 30% goes to the network carriers and in billing statements etc. Google will have no share in it at all.
But this paid app system is only for developers in USA and UK currently. And the app will be available only to Android users in US. Google has plans to launch the service for developers in Germany, Netherlands, Austria, France and Spain soon.
Seeing the success of iTunes app store where the developers have even earned 250,000$ in just few days of app launch, this is a great opportunity for Android developers to start off and write apps for Android. Though it is a bad news for developers living in other parts of the world.
